Physical Appearance
Bulldogs (also known as English Bulldogs) are ideal in size. They are a bit low to the ground and weigh 45 to 60

have a short nose that is surrounded by wrinkles. The wrinkles also take over the face and neck area. Their coat is

Temperament

Grooming

is also necessary to regularly trim their nails when you perform regular grooming of your bulldog.
Most Bulldogs do not enjoy exercising and their nails will easily overgrow. Keeping the nails clipped will
prevent them from becoming injured. Bulldogs are also susceptible to ear infections, so you need to clean the ears
at least once a week.
Health Ailments
Another important part about characteristics of Bulldog pups is learning about potential health issues. Sadly,
there are many health issues that bulldogs may be genetically predisposed to. The more common ailment in a Bulldog
is hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is a joint disease that causes intense pain.
Making sure that your pups’ parents have had an OFA radiograph will minimize the chances that your dog will
develop the disease. Other common health issues include; cherry eye, allergies, patellar luxation, and
hypothermia.
It is essential to avoid exposing your dog to hot weather. Their short face makes it difficult for them to
breathe, thus being overheated can lead to a heat stroke. Overall, a healthy Bulldog has a life expectancy of 8 to
12 years.
